As we reach the end of 2016 and look ahead to next year we thought we'd take the opportunity to reflect on progress and our development as an international force in advanced materials cutting.
Spreading the word
Composites is a global sector. During 2016, we have launched 5 collaborative projects with research and development partners across Europe. We pride ourselves on our composites expertise and ability to come up with workable, practical solutions. Our work in R & D with our customers is central to Bindatex delivering real value to them.
Our clients make our business. With customers ranging from small SMEs to global international engineering groups, we have the focus and flexibility to build effective, sustainable relationships.
This year, we have seen a 40% increase in the number of clients we deal with from the aerospace industry.
2016 has been a challenging year for the EU but we recognise the importance of real-world collaborations based on mutual benefit which go beyond the political. Brexit or no Brexit, we will be here!
We have worked hard throughout 2016 attending six major composite events across the UK and Europe.
These events have proved valuable in getting out and actively meeting key people in the composites sector. It is these connections and relationships which build the platform for business development.
We are now working directly with clients in 6 European countries and we are looking to extend this growth further. Our undoubted success is testament to the hard work put into getting the skills and benefit offered by Bindatex recognised across the world.
In October, we launched our new website at www.bindatex.com. The site highlights Bindatex as a company and allows anyone to find out just how capable we are.
We have already started to actively use the website, regularly adding new, interesting and relevant content. This activity will continue through 2017. We always welcome your feedback and comment.
Growing the Team
Bindatex is nothing without our people. We are pleased that 3 new and valuable members have joined the team during 2016.
- Martyn Ward joined us as Operations Manager
- Nick Barrett is now our Business Development Manager
- Mark Littlewood is our senior technician.
The inputs and involvement of all 3 are allowing the company to expand and progress to the next level.
Investment and Product Development
Our people may be the heart of our business but they need the tools to do the job. Alongside our focus on effective recruitment 2016 has seen a continuing programme of investment in machinery.
We have invested in a new method for cutting composites which has enabled us to offer Chopped Composite Fibre as a base material used in compression moulding. These CCFs offer high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios amongst many other benefits.
During the year we have also developed new techniques for cutting Thermoplastic Uni-Directional Tapes specifically for use in Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) manufacturing.
But what about 2017?
2016 has been busy for Bindatex as the business goes from strength to strength - but what of the coming year?
2017 looks to be another great year for Bindatex. We don’t intend on slowing down! As well as continuing the good work started during this year we have plans and ideas to take the business to the next level. More exhibitions, innovative project development and creative composite solutions. 2017 is looking good from here...
We look forward to you joining us on the journey.
